Letters & money

And when official post arrives or money is left unclaimed

01

Letters explained — before the deadline passes

Take a photo of the letter, and Buddi tells you in two sentences what it is about, what to do and by when. The deadline is at the top, not in the small print.

02

Money you are entitled to

Kindergeld, Kinderzuschlag, Wohngeld: many families get less than they are entitled to because nobody tells them. Buddi asks a few questions and shows what is likely to apply to you.

Contracts in view — and an honest “stay where you are”

Electricity, gas, mobile, insurance: Buddi remembers terms and notice periods and does the maths before recommending anything. If you are already on a good deal, it says so just as clearly.

We pay €119 a month for electricity. Should we switch?

I still need your price per kWh. Without your usage I cannot calculate a saving — and inventing a number would not help you. Send me your last bill and I will do the maths. If you are already on a good deal, I will tell you just as clearly.

No switch without a calculated benefit

For kids

A Buddi of their own for the kids. No ads.

Children get their own simple view. You, the parents, decide who joins — and what they see.

  • Only parents set up a child’s access. By link or QR code, revocable at any time — with your consent under Art. 8 GDPR.
  • No ads, no partner offers. Purchase recommendations and partner links are always filtered out of the kids’ view.
  • Tasks, points and a Buddi that grows with them. Small household tasks turn into points and goals — you approve the pocket money.

How Buddi makes money

Honestly: this is how we earn.

An assistant that costs nothing has to explain what it lives on. Here is our answer — no asterisks.

  • €0

    For families. Forever.

No subscription, no premium tier, no paywall. Every feature is free for every family.

  • Commission

    Only when you sign up.

If you switch through a partner link, the provider pays Buddi a commission. Your price stays the same.

  • Anzeige

    Always labelled.

Every partner link is marked “Anzeige” (advertisement) in the app. You always see where Buddi might earn something.

  • Calculated

    No recommendation without a benefit.

Buddi only recommends a switch when it can show the saving in euros. And we do not sell your data — to anyone.

Daniel Garrido, founder of Buddi

Who is behind Buddi

I built Buddi for my own family first. Today it is my life’s project — something I want to leave to my children.

I am Daniel, a father, living with my family in Düsseldorf. I built Buddi for the letters you read three times and the contracts that quietly keep running.

Professionally I come from sales. I know how selling works — which is exactly why Buddi recommends nothing that cannot be calculated. I put my name to every answer Buddy gives, and I answer questions myself.

FAQ

What families ask us

Not listed? Write to dgarrido@buddiapp.de — Daniel answers personally.

Is Buddi really free?

Yes, permanently. There is no subscription, no premium tier and no paywall — every feature is free for every family.

What happens to our data?

Your family data is stored in a database in Frankfurt (EU) and processed under the GDPR. For some AI features we use providers based partly in the USA, covered by EU standard contractual clauses; which service does what is listed in the privacy policy (German). Chat histories are deleted after 90 days, and you can delete your account in the app at any time. This page sets no cookies and uses no tracking.

Which languages does Buddi speak?

12 languages: German, English, Spanish, Turkish, Arabic, Ukrainian, Polish, Russian, Romanian, Italian, Portuguese and French. Buddi explains a German letter in your language and gives you the German term as well — so you know what it is about at the office.

Which letters can Buddi explain?

The typical family letters: from the Familienkasse, the tax office, your health insurer, your landlord or your energy provider. Take a photo, choose a picture from your gallery or upload a PDF.

Is Buddi safe for children?

Children get their own view, which only a parent can set up. It has no ads and no partner offers. Parents approve pocket money and rewards and can revoke access at any time.

Does Buddi replace tax or legal advice?

No. Buddi explains, does the maths and shows the next step — but it does not make binding decisions and does not replace advice from a tax adviser, a lawyer or the responsible authority. For entitlements, Buddi always points you to the official office.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Buddi runs in your browser, on your phone or your computer — just tap “Start for free”. The Android app is in a closed beta on Google Play.

Does Buddi also help with insurance and pensions?

Buddi does not advise on insurance, pensions or investments and does not broker contracts — that takes a licence and a person who knows your situation. If you have questions about it, Buddi connects you with a licensed adviser from our partner, only if you explicitly ask. The conversation costs you nothing; Buddi receives a fee for the introduction. We never pass on your children’s data.

Who is behind Buddi?

Daniel Fernando Garrido Liere, founder of Buddi — a registered sole proprietorship in Düsseldorf. Full details are in the legal notice (German).
